What to do when you don’t know what to do

The common image of leadership is biased towards action. But, when your habits of action have become outmoded, it’s time to activate or open to another leadership image – that of  mystic or shaman. Your inner mystic is adept at  letting go of the known and the past. This part of you trusts the darkness recognizing that “those who dwell in darkness shall see the light.”

Your inner shaman willingly offers the old structure of self-hood be torn apart.

This is almost always an ordeal. Not easy. But, embraced in full recognition that to hold yourself together, at this point in your life, is fighting against your future.  The way forward comes through letting go and surrender.

As you let go and release your old identity the stillness deepens.

As it deepens, you begin to see that what at first appeared to be darkness, is in fact not dark at all. Deep within you there is new life. Deep within the stillness there is energy and an emerging sense of “what’s next”.

This “what’s next” is not an action plan. It is an image, a feeling, a felt-sense that arises from deep within in and at the same time connects you to your life path. To you life work.

As you inner eyes adjust to the darkness of “not knowing”, you receive a new vision of what your work is really all about. You hear your calling afresh.

  • Where are you experiencing darkness?
  • What are you holding on to?
  • What will aid you in letting go?
  • When you attune to your “calling”, what do you hear?
