Love is much more demanding than Law.

Desmond Tutu knows. He lived in a country where Law dominated Love.

And he fought back with Love. Intense. Indomitable. Truth & Reconciliation Love.

Law is easier than Love.

In your work Law is easier than Love.

  1. Law is following the policy and procedure manual. Love is leading according to values and purpose..
  2. Law is waiting to get it right before speaking up, showing your stuff, taking action. Love is moving forward before you’re sure.
  3. Law says, “This far and no further.” Love propels you into un-mapped territory.
  4. Love demands that you pursue what’s calling you. Law tells you to check with an expert.
  5. Love pours it on. Law says, “This much and no more.”
  6. Love says, “Get your hands dirty.” Law is sanitary.
  7. Love demands that you stay in the game – even when you’re bleeding. Law lets you off the hook.
  8. Love says, “Now.” Law checks the schedule.
  9. Love says “No” to what confines you. Law says “No” to what does not protect you.
  10. Love throws you into the deep end of the pool and then says, “Go deeper.” Law gives you a job description.
  11. Love demands your own voice. Law repeats what others have written.
  12. Love turns towards your own and others pain. Law passes judgement.
  13. Love pours your heart into your work. Law asks what the contract requires.
  14. Love loses track of time. Law punches the time card.
  15. Love sweats. Law is temperature controlled.
  16. Love acts before it’s safe. Law gets insurance.
  17. Love shows up – even when there’s no audience. Law cancels two weeks before opening night.
  18. Love calls for your soul. Law reviews your resume.

Love is much more demanding than Law.

What’s Love demanding of you these days? How can you heed that call?

WOW! I’m blown away thinking about the power of love to make a real difference. Love demands more, as well as gives the power to do more.
